In Depth

For those looking to get stuck into the country’s best dive sites, we recommend heading straight to Gozo where many of the best dive sites can be accessed from the shore. Sunlight-filled caverns and swim-throughs, chimneys and caves greet divers and snorkellers, with marine highlights including wrecks and reefs alike.

Fish life is amongst the best in the Mediterranean with plenty of variety from Spanish mackerel and barracudas to amberjacks and moray eels. Turtles have been spotted in these waters so divers should keep their eyes peeled, and whilst diving on wrecks lying on a sandy bottom, rays are often sighted. Short-nosed seahorses blend in amongst seagrass blades, and cuttlefish and octopus are exciting inhabitants to encounter. Diving holidays in Gozo are suitable for divers of all abilities and interests, making it one Europe’s best dive destinations.
