In Depth

The magic of Siladen is the comfortable, sophisticated style combined with the very best service throughout the resort and dive teams. The staff are simply charming and will do whatever they can to make sure a stay at Siladen is unforgettable. The villas are set amongst the palm trees with some beachfront villas, whilst some are set a little further back in the garden. The option for a two-Bedroom villa makes this a wonderful option for families.

The salt-water pool is the heart of the resort, with the restaurant, lounge, bar and reception surrounding it. The skilled chefs put together delicious, varied local and European dishes as well as regular beach BBQs during the dry seasons. The pool and bar are the perfect places to relax between dives or at the end of the day with a cocktail watching the sunset.

The Diving

The award-winning dive team are expertly led by the resort managers and are one of the most impressive we have come across. Whether guests come here to learn to dive, are snorkellers, professional underwater photographers or just want to enjoy lots of diving, the team here cater for all to the highest standard. Groups are always a maximum dive/snorkel guide to guest ratio of 1:4 and they will try their utmost to match experience and interests within every group.

All dives are done by boat and two-tank dives are schedule in the morning, with a single tank in the afternoon. There is also the option for dusk and night dives daily. With over 50 dive sites to choose from, there are a number of types of diving available including wall diving, shallow coral reefs, caverns and over-hands, gentle slopes and muck diving closer to the mainland. There is even a wreck close to the resort entirely covered in sponges.

Uniquely for a dive resort, Siladen also caters equally well for snorkellers. With over half of the dive sites being excellent snorkel sites too, Siladen run twice-daily trips with either a mix of divers and snorkellers if the site is appropriate for divers, otherwise just snorkellers. Briefings are snorkelling specific, explaining the sites topography and what might be seen, and length of time is very flexibility, often up to 70 minutes. Night snorkelling is also offered at the right sites and is a spectacular experience for snorkellers.

Beyond the Reef

North Sulawesi has much more to offer above the waves and Siladen can arrange a number of excursions including dolphin and pilot whale tours, Minahasa highland trips and a tour into the Tangkoko rainforest to see the Black Crested Macaque and Tarsius to name a few. They also offer yoga in the Treehouse, treatments at the spa or grab a kayak to explore the waters close to the resort.

Siladen are committed to preserving and protecting the environment to not only ensure the long-term success of the resort, but also Bunaken National Marine Park. This includes a number of ongoing projects including a turtle sanctuary, avoiding single-use plastic and energy efficiency and installing buoys so prevent the reefs from being damaged. Guests can learn all about the projects at the resort and can volunteer to help with the Turtle Conservation if seasonality allows.
